The Solicitors Qualifying Examination Part 1 is the assessment all aspiring solicitors in England and Wales must pass to qualify. It tests Functioning Legal Knowledge across two papers (FLK1 and FLK2), each 180 single-best-answer questions under timed conditions.

FLK1 covers Business Law & Practice, Dispute Resolution, Contract, Tort, Legal System, Constitutional / Administrative, and EU Law. FLK2 covers Property Practice, Wills and Administration of Estates, Solicitors Accounts, Land Law, Trusts, Criminal Law, and Criminal Practice. Both share cross-cutting ethics and professional conduct.

The SRA does not publish a fixed pass mark. Each sitting is standardised against a panel — historical data places it in the 55–60% range. Our internal analytics target a sustained 70%+ practice accuracy so you have headroom on the day.

Three attempts within six years from your first sitting. After that, you would need to re-register.
